Solar module SUNOVATION® is awarded with
„Product of the year 2009“
Elsenfeld, Germany, 1.1.2009. The innovative solar modules of Sunplastics
GmbH (brand: SUNOVATION®) combine function, creativity and design in
an exceptional way. This is the decision of a top-class jury of pro-K, the
German Industrial Association of Semi-finished and Consumer Products made
of Plastic. In the field of technical consumer goods, the SUNOVATION® PV
module achieves the desired award „Product of the year 2009“.
Sunplastics produces solar modules for electrical power generation with
high-quality plastics (PLEXIGLAS® / Makrolon®). The solar cells are
mainly crystalline and embedded in a special gel between two mostly transparent
plastic sheets. The modules can carry mechanical loads very well because of
the sandwich compound and they are also – contrary to glass modules – break-proof
and bendable. Thus, the customer has multifaceted variants for realizing his
ideas. Whether in shape, selection of material or colour, the range of individual
solutions is very large. It is possible to produce transparent, toned or multi-coloured
modules in flat and even in a spherical curved shape. Generally, crystalline
solar cells are implemented but also thin-film cells can be used. Furthermore,
the degree of transparency can be defined by varying the distance between the
cells and/or by semi-transparent solar cells.
By means of a special connector technology for the electrical contact
between the solar cells, the lifetime of the modules is not affected even in
a curved shape. SUNOVATION® Modules which work already for 11 years without
any failure demonstrate this fact impressively.
Additionally, there is a great advantage in comparison with standard
glass-glass-modules in the reduction of the weight of the modules by two third.
Especially for applications of architectural challenging projects like
dome lights, façades and stadium roofs, the modules are often the only
possible solution. One of the current projects of Sunplastics, the construction
of the inner ring of the soccer stadium in Bremen, Germany (Bremer Weser Stadion)
is a good example for that. But also for mobile applications (vehicles, boats)
as well as for urban installations (bus shelters, signs etc.) the modules can
be used perfectly because they also withstand very well vandalism and mechanical
shock.
„We offer the customer solutions for realizing individual photovoltaic
applications when projects with standard PV modules come to natural limits.“ says
Immanuel Möbius, one of the two General Managers of Sunplastics GmbH.
